“In medical school on my urology rotation, I felt closest to the urologists I met in terms of personality. They were accomplished and confident in their work yet completely approachable. I always knew I wanted to be a surgeon, so I loved the combination of endoscopic and open surgery that the field provided. We treat a wide range of disease from stone disease to cancer and care for a patient base ranging from pediatric to geriatric.
“I have truly enjoyed that urology pioneered the use of robotic surgery and we have been instrumental for such huge strides in patient care improvement. Robotic surgery has been the most exciting advance in my career and we were on the ground floor of forwarding this technology. I enjoy spending time with patients and would say that my understanding and empathy characterizes how I interact. I hope to give patients improvement of their urologic problem. I truly enjoy interacting with people and try to use humor whenever possible to make a difficult situation more relaxing and less intimidating for the patient.”
“I was first exposed to urology at a very early age, because that was the practice of my father, Gregor Emmert, Sr., MD, who founded our office in 1968. I enjoy the opportunity to perform surgical procedures and see patients in the office. The diversity of problems we see, the changing science and technology, the interaction with patients and their families and the intrigue of surgery are all compelling. I enjoy the opportunity to better serve my patients. I strive to answer your urologic questions at each appointment and to make you feel comfortable. While my office hours are busy, I take the time I need with each patient individually. There are a number of things I want to give to my patients. Focused interest on their concerns, successful medical or surgical intervention for their problems, as needed, and information on innovations in urology are all important.”
“I grew up in a surgeon’s family. My father’s commitment to medicine and his interaction with patients served as a model for me. I found that urology presents a unique opportunity to treat a variety of problems in men and women of all ages both medically and surgically. I’m fascinated by urologic problems that require thoughtful analysis and problem-solving abilities.
“I involve myself, the patient and the patient’s family in the treatment process. My compassion and caring lead me to invest time addressing each patient’s unique needs and delivering results that are satisfactory to the patient and me.”
“My grandfather was a family practice physician and I admired him. I chose urology because it combines surgical care with medical care encompassing a range of medical services for a wide range of patients. I enjoy the challenge and variety. And I enjoy interacting with patients.
“I am informal but always professional so that patients are comfortable yet confident in my ability to care for them. I have great compassion for patients and I am a good listener. My goal is to provide excellent care and improve patients’ quality of life.”
“As the son of a urologist, I was exposed to medicine at a young age and witnessed the satisfaction that comes with helping people. Medicine provides complicated problems that require careful thought and problem-solving skills, a challenge that I enjoy. Urology is constantly changing due to new technologies which enable me to better care for my patients.
“Every patient has a unique problem. I give my patients a clear and honest understanding of their urologic problems, their treatment options and the results they can expect. I am committed to providing my patients with compassionate, empathetic, state-of-the-art care.”
“Urology offers the unique combination of a surgical discipline that allows an ongoing doctor-patient relationship. The field of urology offers a diverse set of medical conditions that can be managed by a wide array of modalities from medical management to the most advanced robotic and minimally invasive techniques. The field is ever changing with new technological advances that allow me to better serve my patients. What I find most enjoyable is helping patients understand their condition, sift through their many treatment options, and being able to deliver care with great expertise and compassion.”
“I grew up as the son of a urologist and always admired my father’s work. I had a strong desire to combine patient engagement and surgical subspecialty. I enjoy the range of patients I see and the challenge presented by the range and complexities of issues in the field. I enjoy the ability to change people’s lives as a result . . . helping parents conceive children and curing or reducing the effect of urologic cancers. Patients have a right to understand fully their medical issues and the possible courses of action. I work with patients to help them understand their issues and discuss the pros and cons of options for them. I am compassionate, supportive and want to work as a team to help patients decide what is best for them.”
“I feel that patients appreciate the extra time I spend with them and the communication bridge I can provide between them and their physician. As a Physician Assistant, I provide quick access to care with a personal touch.”
