Mark A. Wainstein, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr Mark Wainstein is a native of Toledo and graduated from Sylvania Southview High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University on a research scholarship graduating with high honors. He obtained his medical degree at The Tufts University in Boston where he received a research scholarship in Hematology.
Dr. Wainstein did his training in urologic surgery at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. During his residency, he participated in both basic science and clinical research projects. He has published more than twenty peer-reviewed articles/book chapters and has had presentations at numerous regional and national meetings.
After residency, Dr. Wainstein completed a Fellowship in Female and Reconstructive Urology at Washington University in St. Louis. During his fellowship, he received special training in the treatment of incontinence and pelvic floor disorders. After his fellowship, Dr. Wainstein was honored with an offer to remain on the teaching staff of Washington University, but elected to return to Toledo to join his father and Genito-Urinary Surgeons to practice urology in 1997
Dr. Wainstein has been Board Certified in Urology since 1999 and recertified in 2006. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and member of the American Medical Association, The American Urologic Association, The Ohio State Medical Association and Academy of Medicine of Toledo.
Dr. Wainstein has served as President of The Northwest Ohio Urologic Association. Currently he is Chairman of the Section of Urology at The Toledo Hospital and President of the Ohio Urology Society. He has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine since 1997 and remains active in resident training.
Dr. Wainstein is involved all facets of Urology but maintains special interests in Bladder Dysfunction/Pelvic Floor Disorders, Urologic Cancers and Stone Disease. He is frequently invited to speak on these topics
Dr. Wainstein sees patients in Toledo and Fremont offices. During his free time, he enjoys skiing, cycling with his wife and 3 children.
