Michael G. Rashid, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Michael Rashid was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. He completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University where he received a major in physiology graduating with high honors. He completed medical school at Wayne State University. Dr. Rashid then went to The University of Michigan and completed a residency in Urology. There he studied under several nationally and internationally respected urologists including a nationally recognized minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeon. Dr. Rashid also participated in numerous research projects including a dedicated year performing basic science research on prostate cancer at The University of Michigan Cancer Center. Dr. Rashid’s research was published in major peer reviewed journals and presented at national meetings. At the completion of training Dr. Rashid was honored with the offer to be on the teaching staff at the University of Michigan. However, the opportunity to join Genito-Urinary Surgeons arose and he and his family moved to Northwest Ohio .

Dr. Rashid brings to Northwest Ohio extensive training in minimally invasive urologic surgery. As a clinical assistant professor of Urology at the University of Toledo, Dr. Rashid has helped to disseminative laparoscopic urologic surgery skills to his partners and the urology residents under his instruction. Since the completion of his residency Dr Rashid has performed close to 200 laparoscopic surgeries for kidney and prostate cancer, urinary tract reconstruction, and incontinence. Along with his partner Dr. Emmett Boyle, Jr. he has performed over 90 laparoscopic robotic prostate cancer surgeries using the daVinci system-including the first in Northwest Ohio. This is the largest robotic prostatectomy series in Northwest Ohio.

Dr. Rashid is Board Certified in Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is the Medical Director of Minimally Invasive Urology at St. Vincent Medical Center. He participates in the Cancer Committee of St. Vincent Hospital. He is involved in the Academy of Medicine. He was honored with his past selection as the Northwest Ohio representative to the board of the Ohio Urologic Society. Dr. Rashid has been an invited speaker at cancer conferences, medical grand rounds, large community events, and will be speaking to the Cancer Registrars this fall on Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery.

Dr. Rashid sees patients in our main Toledo office on Executive Parkway and also has satellite offices in Bowling Green and Fremont. Dr Rashid and his wife live with their 3 children in Sylvania.
